In Task 5 we invited our students to connect mathematics and the number line with their traditions, heritage and history.
There were two options they could choose from, but also they were free to decide to do something completely different. The first option we suggested was to present steps from a traditional dance on a number line or in the Cartesian coordinate system. Each dance step should be represented by a point. With these instructions we can actually teach our partners how to dance. The second option was to present famous scientists, artists, scholars or any other significant individuals from their countries. They had to find out their date of birth and year. The day they were born represents the X coordinate, and the month represents the Y coordinate. If the person is deceased, all numbers are negative. The year they were born should be presented on a separate number line. |
They made their presentations and posted them on the Wakelet.
